tried to pay for the bill and was actually denied by the cashier because our ecuadorian friends were on the other side of the restaurant wagging their fingers at the cashier...
experienced gringo injustice when the taxi driver charged my ecuadorian friend much more than necessary, and as he tried to negotiate the price he said, "just because I'm with gringas doesn't mean you can charge me more," and then looked back and said "woops sorry!"
skyped my roomate Ellie until 1:30 in the morning...
curled my hair with a straightener...
had my face and lips painted with vaseline and glitter...
danced in the Cuenca carnival parade for an hour wearing a yellow and green flamenco belly dress...
didn't go/have class...
ate papaya, after explaining to my host dad that papaya is called papaya in English also...
took a nice long siesta...
"played carnival"...
got completely drenched by my host sister's friends dumping buckets of water and spraying me with the hose, in front of people I didn't know, and after being at the house for less than 2 minutes...
watched a dog jump up and eat a whole piece of dulce de leche bread...
saw a whole family on one motorcycle...
watched a movie about Chile in the 1970's, in the culture house (and thoroughly understood it) although it was definitely harder to explain to my host parents...
ate guniea pig (cuy); struggled cutting through the tough skin and pieces of fur, while looking at it's head and paw...
just found out I need to put down quite a lovely (not) deposit for machu picchu tomorrow, but yes, Machu Picchu!
Happy February 16th/10 days until my cumpleaƱos! :)
